He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from Nanjing University and his Doctorate from Tsinghua University, which included a one-year joint doctoral research period at the University of Freiburg in Germany.

He is the author of the monograph The Moment and Dasein: A Study of Heidegger’s Early Thought on the Moment (2022) and translated Thomas Sheehan’s definitive work, Making Sense of Heidegger: A Paradigm Shift, into Chinese.

Wang Hongjian

Director

Dr. Wang Hongjian is a Young Professor in the “ZJU 100 Talent Program” of the School of Philosophy at Zhejiang University. His research focuses on twentieth-century continental philosophy, hermeneutics, and phenomenology, particularly regarding the systematic translation and transformation of German phenomenological thought within contemporary Chinese academic discourse.

Dr. Wang’s work examines how traditional ontological frameworks and hermeneutic methodologies address modern crises like technological dominance and nihilism while fostering cross-cultural dialogue to develop independent interpretive frameworks. He is the author of Ontologie der Praxis bei Martin Heidegger and Martin Heidegger. Perspectives on the Interpretation of his Thinking. Additionally, he has contributed directly to major translation projects in continental thought, serving as one of the translators for the Chinese edition of Gadamer’s Collected Works.
